Totally Pieved with some Penn State Letterman Reaction to New Coach!

Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Joe Patern...

While I’m not sure it’s totally official, Penn State University (PSU) seemed to come to closure today with the news that New England Patriot offensive coordinator, Bill O’Brien, will replace the legendary Joe Paterno as the future coach of the Nittany Lions.

Yet, this positive announcement was tainted by some in the PSU Letterman’s Club (on Facebook).  The most pronounced, at least in today’s news, was Brandon Short.  LaVar Arrington went as far as saying; “I will put my Butkus (Award) in storage. I will put my Alamo Bowl MVP trophy in storage,” Arrington said. “Jerseys, anything Penn State, in storage. Wherever Tom Bradley goes, that’s the school I will start to put memorabilia up in my home. I’m done. I’m done with Penn State. If they’re done with us, I’m done with them.”

Hey LaVar… I once had a lot of respect for you as a college player; but you can stuff those trophies wherever you want!!

Where is this huge disconnect coming from?  If you click on the link to the PSU Letterman’s Club, you’ll see that Kerry Collins fully supports Bill O’Brien.  He’s never worked under him and doesn’t even know Bill O’Brien.  Yet, he has the character to support anything that is truly Penn State!  I totally buy into his attitude!  It’s positive… it works!

Heck, even Pappa Joe has this to offer: “I understand Bill O’Brien has been named head coach and I want to congratulate him on his appointment. I don’t know Bill, but I respect his coaching record, and I am particularly pleased we share a connection to my alma mater, Brown. … Despite recent commentary to the contrary, Penn State football has always been about more than winning. I am hopeful this tradition will continue.”

Special Kudos to acting athletic director David Joyner!  It’s a tough job, but you’ve proven your mettle!
